Boathotel in Amsterdam?

Hello Everybody!
I`m a 46 years old man coming to visit Amsterdam with my 16 years old son (2.-11.6). We are looking for a nice place to stay for a reasonable price. 18 years ago I was staying
in a boathotel during my first Amsterdam-visit and thought it was nice. Does enybody know, if there are any available today...and is it possible to pay with American Express?

Hi
If you do a search for "boatel amsterdam" on google.com you will find a number of listings.

The reviews on www.tripadvisor.com for the Amstel Botel are very mixed. From "Fawlty towers" to "Very adequate" ...
They do take AE cards.
And they have a website: http://www.amstelbotel.com

It's called the Amstel Botel and it's been reviewed previously here on Fodor's. I found it dirty, small, and unpleasant, and would strongly encourage you to look elsewhere for accommodations in Amsterdam.

Try canalwatch.com. GREAT SITE!!

They have apartments and one of them is a canal houseboat. $166 US per night , 3 night minimum.
If is is like their other properties it is well worthe the price.

Enjoy
