BNL d'Italia ATM locations--no fee with B of A--where are they?
Hello again,
I just got off the phone with Bank of America and was happy to discover that they now charge no ATM fee at BNL d'Italia locations. Does anyone happen to know how I can find out where their ATMs are in the following cities: Venice, Florence, Siena, Rome, Positano, Orvieto? I could not find anything when I did a search of this site.
Thanks in advance.

This seems to be the page (click on the yellow button to find locations):
http://www.bnl.it/wps/portal/individ...ate/MyCash-BNL
I'm sure someone will tell us if I'm completely wrong.

It's one of the biggest banks in Italy. Pick your cities (e.g., Firenze) and search on google maps for BNL Firenze, and it will show you all the branches. I never saw a branch that did not have an ATM.

We stayed on the Via del Corso down by the Vittorio Emanuele II, there was a BNP ATM in the Piazza Venezia, that was the one that we always used. Once you know the logo you will see them everywhere.

Thanks everyone-after some fumbling around on the website, I was able to locate the ATMs in Venice, and after that we'll be fine just discovering them as we go.
Michael-It's strange that they gave me the old name of the bank on the phone; thanks for the tip on the new name/logo.
StC-I didn't think to ask them, but that would have been smart!

I, too, am interested in locating BNL ATMs. I used the web site to determine that there are none in Ravello, where I will be staying. However, I am not sure I searched correctly for ATMs in the Rome airport. Does anyone happen to know if there is a BNL ATM in FCO?
Thank you.
Thank you.

I just returned from Rome, and did not see any BNP Paribus (which is what the sign will say for BNL: same bank) in the airport. However, that bank has many branches all over Rome. I didn't see any in Ravello, Positano or Amalfi, but there might be some if you check online.
Ravello is beautiful-enjoy your stay. BTW, it's worth the money to take a taxi up from Amalfi and skip the crowded buses. We had a horrendous ride up the mountain to Ravello, and splurged on a cap with another tourist for the way back down.

Bump.
Traveling to Rome, Venice and Florence. I was told my BofA ATM card may not work in Italy because it doesn't have a chip. Any recent experience to know if my card will or will not work at BNL D'Italia?
Thx.

An ATM card will work in an ATM without a chip.
It may work as a debit card. I don't have a debit card so I don't know.
Michael, do you know if those fees apply to premium account customers? We don't pay service fees on any of our other activities at BOA but I haven't had time to check on the ATM fees.

The 1% currency conversion fee and/or the 2% foreign transaction fee is waived for a few account holders but overall, B of A has some of the highest ATM fees of any US bank.

I have a BofA debit card. It worked at ATMs in Italy October 2013.
Chip features is a credit card issue, and not an ATM or debit card usage at ATM machines for now. Re-read your source. If the source was accurate, it should be referred to credit cards and most likely countries other than Italy.
According to BofA, https://www.bankofamerica.com/deposi...aq-atm-fees.go, combine "What is the Global ATM Alliance?" and "What are the fees for using a debit card or ATM card in a foreign country?", you get:
ATM at listed partner banks = 3% (international transaction fee)
ATM at non-partner banks = 3% + $5 (Non-Bank of America ATM usage fee)

This is one of those exercises that is crazy. Even if you had address, then there is the headache of finding the address with the min or no street markings. I have never had a problem with an ATM finding me as I am walking along. With a credit union debit card, it doesn't make any difference as to the owner of the ATM as long as owned by a bank.

I also have a BOA ATM card (debit), and I use the VISA ATM locator to search for ATMs by city: http://www.visa.com/atmlocator/index.jsp#(page:home)
Note that on the website BNL is identifed as Banca Nazionale del Lavoro.
I have never had a problem using my BOA debit card at ATMs in Europe. As greg said, the chip issue only applies to credit cards.
