BMIBABY -- good airline?

We are traveling to Scotland and Wales this summer. Has anyone flown on BMIBaby from Edinburgh to Cardiff? How was the airline? Thanks.

I've flown this route a number of times and it has always been fine. As you probably know bmibaby is an offshoot of bmi which is a full service airline (and my preferred one for other routes). The only difference with bmibaby is no free food or drinks, and the cabin crew wear rather naff casual-style outfits. If you have a Star Alliance gold card you can use the regular bmi Diamond Club lounge at Edinburgh when flying with bmibaby.

Hello Caroline, if you see this, I wonder if you'd recommend flying from the states into Cardiff, and then BMIBaby to Edinburgh, or vice versa? Or perhaps it makes no difference... We'd like to spend 3 or 4 days in each city. Thanks very much--

Hi nyse. It would be a good way of doing it - but are there transatlantic flights to Cardiff ? It's quite a small airport. I know Continental fly to Edinburgh.

But if not, it wouldn't be too much hassle to fly to Edinburgh, then on to Cardiff, spend time there, then back to Edinburgh & spend time there.

Since the original post I've flown EDI-CWL a number of times & never had any problem. V. excited about going down next week to see the Kirov Opera perform Wagner's Ring cycle at the Wales Millennium Centre !

Just one change since my original posting - Star Alliance gold cardholders are no longer allowed access to the BMI lounge at EDI when flying bmibaby.

Have flown Edinburgh - Cardiff - Edinburgh on a number of occasions with bmibaby and even although it is a no frills flight it has always been excellent. I would have no hesitation in flying it anytime especially if you book early and get the cheap flights.

Always helpful when planning a trip to know where one is going! No direct flights from Chicago to either city so I'll look at rates both routes. And if Thursday is a holiday for you, Happy Thanksgiving to you--thank you both.

No, Thanksgiving isn't a holiday in Scotland, funnily enough :-) But have a lovely holiday yourself !

Well, yes. I didn't word my sentiment very well. I only meant that if you personally celebrate the day, hope it's splendid. But I gather you're not an ex-pat, so will merely say I look forward to visiting your Scotland and am grateful for your expertise.

Sorry if I sounded snippy - didn't mean to !

Hope you'll enjoy Scotland very much.

We like Cardiff a lot too & generally visit several times a year. If you go, be sure to book a tour of the Wales Millennium Centre - it's a beautiful building and a very interesting tour.

All the best, Caroline

We did this last summer - flew from Edinburgh to Cardiff. When we were booking the flight - we were a little surprised at how cheap the flights were - I think ours were around 20 pounds with tax. I was expecting a catch somewhere. But we found the airline just like every other one in the states - I wouldn't even say "no frills" since most airlines don't give you any frills these days.

Book the cheap flight with BMIBaby and enjoy!
