BMI being taken over by Lufthansa

Lufthansa already owns 30% of BMI, so this isn't surprising, with all the consolidation that's going on in the airline industry. The real plus for LH is that BMI has a lot of landing slots at Heathrow, which will enable LH to operate more lucrative transatlantic flights via LHR.

There's a lot of it about, what with Delta and NW merging too. They will be maintaining the links with Air France-KLM.

Really annoyed about this as I have always been impressed with BMI, and I hate Lufthansa!

BMI operates the only Brussels-Edinburgh service, which my family and I use several times a year. I wonder how long it'll be before Lufthansa does away with that route?

Wondering why you hate Lufthansa, hanl. I've always been impressed with their service.

StCirq, I've only flown Lufthansa a handful of times but didn't enjoy any of those flights!
Maybe "hate" was too strong a word - my poor experiences were more in terms of comfort (tatty/broken seats), food (awful), service on board (grumpy/unhelpful), etc. rather than delays or any major issues.

Anyway I'd still rather they take over the Brussels/Edinburgh route than do away with it all together!!

I've just read on the Manchester Evening News web site that BMI are ceasing transatlantic flights from Manchester from next year.
