bluetooth pay as you go question
Can I rest assured when I land at Heathrow that I can purchase a pay as you go bluetooth phone, for cheap?
I need bluetooth for our Nokia 880 PDA, in case we are out of reach of Wi Fi, for business on the internet.
Otherwise, I will continue these hours on the internet and ebay searching for a phone and sim card.
On this trip, we need it for England and Portugal, but who knows where we will go next, seems smarter to buy an international sim card, I don't know, so am asking.
BTW, has anyone seen these calling rates. Are they decent - seemed so after searching.

Not sure about Heathrow itself, but there is a huge range of payg phones available at mobile phone shops in the UK, so you should certainly be able to find one with Bluetooth.
Here is the Vodafone online shop website: http://shop.vodafone.co.uk/index.cfm?go=phones.home. Prices and available phones may differ in the downtown shops, but as well as Vodafone, O2, T-Mobile, and other networks have shops in most towns, and there are independent retailers such as Carphone Warehouse.

logos999, you are correct, so Giselle will have to check the specs carefully and ask whether the phone is locked before making a purchase.
The big problem for Giselle will be finding a phone during their six hour layover at Heathrow. I don't have an answer for that.

Ah ha, actually that is not true. I have found dozens of unlocked Nokia 6103s on Ebay. Just going to play the bidding game, at worst buy on new for a little over $70.00 in the "buy now" catagory.
Nokia 6103 has 2.0 Bluetooth. The ebay ones are unlocked.

So what game are you playing? . Buy it on Ebay. You're not going to get it in London unlocked and for that price within 6 hours. However $70 is anything but cheap. Plus you'll have to pay 60ct instead of 6ct per minute

I'm not playing any game. Are you being rude to me? This is why I so rarely come to this site anymore.
I am just trying to find a phone that enables the Nokia 800 tablet we bought, so my husband can do business outside Wi Fi zones.
Perhaps it will not be cost effective unless I can find a sim card for 6 cents a minute or so. Car arehouse in the UK had prepaid sim cards for 3 p, but only work calling to the UK. I just wish there were rates like that to the USA.
Be nice here.

I have seen several phone vendors including Vodaphone, at Heathrow--they are there, shoot--I can not recall at what terminal/area though. They had an array of phones (I was looking to buy while waiting on a connecting flight), not sure about bluetooth models though or whether those required a plan rather than pay as you go.

Yup, same old snobs and know it alls here, same as 2000. A person just tries to get or share a little info, a "Fodorite" who knows it all puts you in your place.
Carry on with your snob-o-rama. Idi o t post. I was just trying to get travel information.
