Blue Grotto Timing- Capri

In Capri's Blue Grotto Do you have to be there at a special time to be able to get in because of tides etc.? Any schedules available?

There is no significant tide in that area. The entrance to the cave is very small and boats can only enter when the sea is very calm. Therefore the weather is the main factor, and there is no schedule for that.

Thanks. Looking forward to a calm and sunny day for a visit.

Your chances depend at least in pat on the time of year. In late spring, summer and early fall the sea is usuallly fairly calm and you can get in. In late fall/winter the chance of high seas - and no entry - is much greater.

We asked in our hotel before we took the hydrofoil to Capri - and they were able to tell us if the grotto was open that day (this was May and they said it was almost always open then).

Great Sept 23rd is looking good. Any other Capri Tips, we were planning a day trip there and thought we would just see it on foot for the most part.
