Blue Grotto. Can you get off the boat right there after you visit?

Is it possble to get off the boat right at the Blue Grotto after you go in? We want to visit Anacapri and really didnt want to back track to the Marina if we can just get off there.

Let's see what other posters have to say - there is a place to get off - there is a large bathing club there - and the public buses come fairly frequently to head up to Anacapri. If you are taking a boat from the marina, you could ask when arranging your trip if after the grotto they could take you the very short distance to the steps near the bathing club.

There is a place at the grotto where people line up to get on the small row boat used to get into the grotto, so I assume you can be dropped there.

You can get off there and catch a bus to Anacapri. The bus stop is at the top of the stairs leading from the grotto to the road. Easy to do.

If you have time before the bus is scheduled to arrive you can grab a snack/drinks at the nearby bar. The views are lovely.

Thank you so much for this information! I am happy that this is an option...otherwise we would have to back track and waste sometime!

The short answer is yes.

Keep in mind that when the grotto is open, it is serviced by special boats that can actually get into it. That is NOT any tour boat you might take. The tour boats from the Marina will take you to the grotto, and if it's open, the grotto boats are there, and you get off the tour boat and onto one of the little boats that take you into the grotto. You would be able to direct the small boat operator to drop you off at the little dock/ledge right where you exit from the grotto. Then you can climb the ladder, go up the stairs and you'll be right at the bus stop. That bus will take you from the grotto to the center of Anacapri where, if you wanted, you could take the chair lift right there up to the top of Mt. Solaro (highly recommended!).

Alternatively, you can catch a bus from Capri town to Anacapri; get off and walk a block to where the Grotto buses are located, take the Grotto bus, and just walk down the stairs to the dock, and one of the little boats will come over and pick you up, take you in, and take you back to the dock.

Sounds more complicated than it is. We've done both, and personally prefer taking the bus, since it's cheaper, and you still get a couple of thrill rides and wild scenery to boot.

Surfer girl has a good suggestion - well two actually. Access the grotto by going there by bus, then going in by the little boat instead of going from the marina. And the chairlift to Mt. Solaro is a good suggestion too.
