Blowdryer/appliances
 

If I have a blowdryer and other such appliances I specifically bought for a trip to Italy. Would I be able to use them in Switzerland without a converter?Thank you!

I wouldn't take a hair dryer? Not only do dual voltage ones not work as efficiently as back home, they are still subject to blowing fuses/circuit breakers. Plus the VAST majority of accommodations provide ones that work better.

Yes you will. No converter needed for sure. Adapter, maybe. There has been a movement in Switzerland towards a standardized "europlug", but depending on the hotel, you just might have to use some sort of adapter. I have this multiplug thing that adapts to any outlet--Brookstone and others have these.

However, I've stopped carrying hair dryers altogether. Most hotels have them now in the rooms--and if they don't, asking at the front desk usually results in getting one.

I don't bring a hairdryer either. I've had a couple of unfortunate experiences with them in Europe. I did buy a cheap blowdryer in Germany, which I used until I just began using the one in the hotel.

I do bring a cheap curling iron which I also bought in Europe somewhere. Trying to deal with dual voltage appliances can be a pain.
