Bloomsbury
 

I've booked a hotel named MyHotel Bloomsbury in London. Has anyone stayed there? I've never been to London before so please let me know if the location is appropriate.

Find a map of London, locate Bloomsbury and cross reference it with places you intend to see.

Mayfair is considered the best place to stay in London as it is central to the major attractions, and shops. However, if you are prepared for some travel then Bloomsbury should be fine.

Unfortunately I can't comment on the hotel itself.

Actually Nino, I was just reading some reviews of this hotel on tripadvisor.com this morning. The reviews there are very good. You might also check epinions.com

While I'm not sure exactly where in Bloomsbury it is, the general area is good. You can walk to many things from there including the theater district, the British museum etc. I'm sure the hotel's website would tell you more.

May I ask what price you paid & what booking service you used?

I stayed in Bloomsbury for a 4-day trip and found it convenient. My hotel was just off Russell Square (thus near a tube stop), and a short walk to the British Museum. For most other attractions (St. Paul's, Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, etc.), the tube provided easy access without too many changes. You might look into a multi-day tube pass, it worked well for me (I bought it at Heathrow, I think, upon arrival). Enjoy your trip!

MyHotel Bloomsbury is just off Tottenham Court Road, near Bedford Square.
I've not been inside that hotel,but I do like to stay in Bloomsbury , I find the area very convenient. I can walk to most of the West End theaters. There are an abundance of restaurants in nearby Soho , Covent Garden, and Fitzrovia.

..and I have a fondness for the bar in MyHotel.

As a resident Londoner I've never stayed there, but know the hotel well - a popular drop-in place for a post-work cocktail.

And mayfair is very high-end hotel land, whereas is Bloomsbury has a little more local character. I think it's a very good choice. (It's a "hip hotel" by the way, so don't go there expecting chintzy curtains and antiques).

Thanks to all! I booked it through tablethotels.com on a rate a special weekend rate of GBP100/night. Good deal in my opinion for a hotel like this.

Nino, we stayed in Myhotel for a week 1 1/2 years ago. We love that hotel. The rooms are all configured differently, but they are clean, and very nice. The sushi restaurant next door, Yo Sushi! is outstanding and a fun place to eat.
It is about a 3-4 block walk to the tube. There is shopping nearby and beautiful parks to walk around.
It is perhaps not the most convenient hotel, but we loved it and would stay there again.

I just got back from London & the exchange rate is atrocious if you are using the American dollar. So at 100 GBP/night for a room, that is close to$200. I got about 53p to the dollar. But things may be better by now. As for Bloomsbury-great area but decided to rent a small studio apt. this time. Good choice.
