Blondes in Instanbul
I read this message about a man who was uncomfortable in Istanbul due to men looking at his wife because she had blonde hair. I belive this is a lie because its a proven fact that out of the 40million wimin in Turkey 30million are blonde. This guy was probably just trying to show how atractive his wife was. I'v been to Turkey 5 times with my partner (who is also blonde) and I have not seen any Turkish man stare at her or pinch her. I mean i'v even seen several blonde Turkish wimin on the eastern side of Turkey. Why would anyone be interested in his wife in particular.

I did not see the post to which you refer, but this one brings up a funny memory from a trip I took in 2001 with a friend. We are both females and blondes and had been backpacking for several weeks. We only went to one location in Turkey, so this anecdote is not meant to generalize the country.
Anyhow, my friend and I (more so my friend) had put on a few pounds from weeks of eating nutella crepes, gelato, cheap pizza, wine, etc. We were at a very touristy area on the way to Ephesus. The Turkish men there were NUTS about my semi-voluptuous (probably US size 10-12) blonde friend. Seriously, the comments and stares were a little wierd, but we kept a good sense of humor. One man actually walked up, pinched and squeezed her upper arm and called her "angel." We found a similar situation in Greece, but to a lesser extent. It was not offensive. In fact, I think she was a little flattered because she was not too happy about gaining the weight (which left soon after we got home and back to normal schedules). |
What are "wimin"? ;)
|
"Wimin" are part of the indigenous population of "Instanbul".

Or so you 'belive'!

and the purpose of this post is.................????????

Wimin?? I think that's a spelling issue?? WOMEN??
I was just in Turkey for 2 weeks- 1 of them in Istanbul. There were many "wimin" with blonde hair (some of it appeared to be the DYED type). What's the point? |
Istanbul is full of blonde women, many of whom are actually and authentically blonde, unlike the blonde women on Turkish television. That's the whole point of insisting that Istanbul is in Europe while most of the rest of Turkey isn't. Speaking of which, Istanbul had some of the nicest Christmas decorations in the streets that I have seen anywhere when I was there one December, in spite of the extremely marginal Christian population.

Is it a good idea to pick on the spelling errors of somebody who posts here? If we declared open season for the orthographic police the forum would become hopelessly clogged up.
If people disagree with what lucius187 has to say, let them address the content of his post rather than the form. |
I am not picking on anyone's spelling. For all I know, wimin is a Turkish word that I don't know.
