Bled castle, vintgar gorge, pletna ride- all worth doing?
 

We'd like to take a tour with roundabout that will be visiting Bled, Bohinj. We have the option of visiting Bled Castle, vintgar gorge, and pletna boat ride to Bled island. We might only have time for either Vintgar gorge or pletna boat ride to bled island, which would you recommend? If we have time, which are worth doing?

I haven't been to Vintgar gorge so can't comment on that. I did really enjoy Bled Lake and the castle. The lake is beautiful and the island close to shore so you can easily see it, I didn't really see the need or appeal of taking the boat ride. I took a public bus from Ljubljana and spent several hours walking around the lake and then up to the castle.

We walked up to the castle, took the pletna ride to the island (and the church) and drove to Vintgar Gorge. All thoroughly worth it. Don't forget the Kremna Rezina (kremšnita). Here is our two days in words and photos (Chapters Nineteen through Twenty One).

Like maitaitom we too took the Pletna ride to the island and walked up to the castle at Bled. We also walked to and from Vintgar Gorge and enjoyed every minute of our walk. If I had to choose between the Pletna boat and Vintgar Gorge I'd pick the gorge but either way you'll be happy with what you pick. We took a day trip out of Ljubljana with Roundabout and can highly recommend them. Here's a link to our trip report. just wanted to let others know, we ended up visiting bled castle-- the view from inside on top of the water is stunning. The water is so turquoise it almost doesnt look real. and we didn't get the same lovely view from the ground level outside of the castle. We didn't take the pletna boat ride.
We did go to vintgar gorge- it was raining so hard that day and even so it was beautiful-- highly recommend both places
