Blanche Hotel in Paris
Gotoday has a deal for $399 pp for airfare and 6 nights at this hotel - has anyone heard of it? Is it okay? It's in the heart of Monmartre - any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

It's not really in the heart of Montmartre, in my opinion anyway. It's in the 9th arrondissement, towards the top end of rue Blanche which runs from l'Eglise de la Trinité up to place Blanche (Moulin Rouge). It's a fairly non-descript street really. There's a Monoprix at the top, on place Blanche, and you'd be within walking distance (5 mins) of the lively market stalls, restaurants, shops and cafés on rue Lepic and Rue des Abbesses.
Montmartre proper doesn't start until you're on the other side of the boulevard de Clichy and Place Blanche, in the 18th arrondissement.
All in all, it's probably an OK location (as I've mentioned a few times on this board, I used to live very near there) but you'll be pretty close to all the XXX shops and cinemas on Boulevard de Clichy, so avoid it if you or your travel companions are easily shocked!!

but it's NOT in the heart of Montmartre, that's the point--although it's not too far. Hanl described the area very well, but if you've been there, you know what it's like (although if you haven't stayed there, I suspect where you've been is no where near this hotel). I know that street, it is "okay" but not that attractive or interesting. If price is your main object and you have no choice, yes, it will be manageable for the location, but it's not that nice. There's a decent bakery at the NW corner of where the Blanche metro stop is, though, and some convenient buses that go down Clichy.
It looks like a pretty typical, ordinary 2* Parisian hotel. Nothing great, nothing terrible, if you know what to expect for that level of hotel. It looks fine if you don't mind the area, that is a good price on go-today. YOu've seen photos, haven't you? Here's some pretty good ones:
