Bistros in Paris
 

I' m going to Paris with my wife on January (young couple) and I would appreciate suggestions about some typical parisian bistros around the city! Not very expensive but with strong parisian atmosphere. Thanks!
P.S. We 'll be staying Bastille area, but I'd like also to visit a bistro in any other area...

Perhaps you should define your meaning of bistro. To the French, the word is interchangeable with café. I think English speakers think of a small restaurant when they use the word, no?

You are right 'analogue', I speak of a small typical french restaurant with pure parisian environment...

A tip from a local : be careful in the tourist neighbourhoods (Latin Quarter, Ile St Louis...) as quite a few tourist traps are awaiting the visitor to give him his money's worth of what he imagines to be the "typical Parisian bistro".

Walk down almost any street. See if there is something you like. Read the menu posted on the door.

A place we always return to for a slice of authentic is the Brasserie de I'le St.Louis(on I'le St.Louis) just behind Notre Dame.
After the meal, especially in warmer weather, sit outside and watch the world walk by.

Le Caveau de L'Isle on the Ille St.Louis is a small restaurant with cozy seating and friendly service. Our fixed price meal was about 28 EUR. They do have a website.

I second Chez Rene. And open all day, no closure between lunch and dinner.

Try Au Petit Marguery, in the 13th. It's our favorite restaurant in Paris: family owned for many years, with the family still involved. Pleasant, upbeat atmosphere, terrific food (esp. the wood mushrooms in the fall and winter months), excellent service. It's the very model of a Parisian bistro.

Since you are staying in the Bastille area I would recommend La Table d'Aligre that is located about 3 or 4 blocks behind the new opera at Bastille (Ledru-Rollin Metro).

The restaurant is not well know to tourists and the menu is creative and in the 25 Euro price range for three course meal. Decor is simple but elegant. Every time I have been there there was a line so I would recommend a reservation.

I would highly suggest Chez Janou. We've been there twice, once with a local, and then a few months later alone. Service was quick and food was excellent. Frommers reviewed it as well. Here's a link that list the Metro Stop and address(not far from Bastille).
