Birthday Celebration in London

Hello-
My family and I are off on a European Adventure the first three weeks in August. My son will be celebrating his 8th Birthday that first week in London...... Any suggestions on a great bakery for a cake? Restaurant that a kid would love?

Thanks!

We bought a birthday cake at Patesserie Valerie for my husbands birthday. It was very good and they had an amazing assortment.

Just down the street from Patisserie Valerie is Amato - http://www.amato.co.uk/default.asp

They have really great cakes; my kids loved them.

Both places are on Old Compton Street in Soho, just off Charing Cross Rd.

For restaurants, my kids liked Giraffe; there are several around London.

My first thought for a birthday cake was also Patisserie Valerie.

Kind of hokey but fun, in Covent Garden area is the very family friendly Papagenos. The decor and atmosphere are over the top and fun. We only ate there once and it seemed to be "birthday party central" around us.

There are several Patisserie Valeries (there is one behind Harrods & another west of Harrods a few blocks near Brompton Oratory) in London. I've bought a birthday cake there & they're excellent.

Thanks everyone for your response! Sounds like Patisserie Valerie is the spot..... I'll look into Amado and Papagenos as well. Thanks much.
