How would I go about locating a driver to take my husband and me from Birmingham to Bath via the Cotswolds? Thanks.

At a guess "with difficulty". You'd probably find it easier to travel to Bath first then pick up a tour with someone like MadMaxTours

You should google car services based in Birmingham and contact your hotel for possible suggestions. It will be very expensive.

A good suggestion as above is to get to Bath by public transport and hook up with a Cotswolds tour there. I hear generally good things about Mad Max tours which originate in Bath. www.madmaxtours.co.uk

I agree with Cathinjoetown. Google car services, hire drivers or taxi companies in Birmingham. I also agree that it will be expensive.

It's really not that hard. Just by Googling, I found Bath Chauffeur Services at http://www.bathchauffeurservices.co.uk/. They specialise in car transfers and tours, and am sure would happily pick you up in Birmingham and take you to Bath via the Cotswolds, which is a fairly direct route anyway. You would probably need to tell them what you want to see on the way, or they may have some suggestions of their own.

There are other companies who would do the same. Just Google "Bath Taxis", "Bath tours" or similar.

Or the same for B'ham or the Cotswolds . . . driver guides are a pretty common animal.

Who can hazard a guess as to what that type of driver would cost - several hundred bucks.

Yes janis I thought that they may be too old to rent a car or not physically able to but if not - if there is just a fear of driving on the 'wrong side of the road' etc that IME is not a problem.

But if OPs are physically unable to walk, etc then the driver has to act as a guide in Bath

janis says driver guides are always available - what kind of guided tour do you mean jan say in Bath- a drive by or actual visits to places.

But if able to drive consider doing it - you'll mainly be on dual carriageways - like our freeways - which are a snap to drive on- cities themselves of course can present problems. Or like someone above said train to Bath - get a tour there - stay the night and next day hire a driver to the Cotswolds Hills.

In any case to expect to see much of Bath and the Cotswolds all in one day if that is the plan is a bit hurried.

well guiding them around the Cotswolds? I misread that they were going to Bath via the Cotswolds thought the driver would be with them in Bath and then to the Cotswolds.

I'd say a quick drive thru the Cotswolds is worthless if you do not get out in some of the cute wool towns or famous estates or even do say the easy hike from Lower to Upper Slaughter- the drive could drop off at one end and pick up at the other - a few mile stroll if up to it.
