Birmingham accommodation
We (2 people)will be travelling to Birmingham the 1st week of October attending a conference at the International Convention Centre and would prefer to stay at a guesthouse or B&B in the area rather than the hotels suggested by the conference committee, any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks Maureen |

Best to try the Birmingham Tourist Information at www.birminghamuk.com/touristinfo.htm tel. 0905 1234000 If you look at the listings on the web pages anything with B1 in the mailing addrss will be near to the ICC. |
Hi,
The only B&B's near there are a 10-15 min bus ride away, down the Hagley Road, A456, and you'd probably pay nearly the same amount as one of the hotels on Broad St anyway. I'd probably go for the Travelodge or Novotel on Broad st both are within a few mins walk of the ICC and are reasonable. Broad St is nice in the eves (though heaving with drunk people on Fri / Sat nights) with lots of places to eat, and the ICC is next to the canals so nice pubs there also. I'm from Birmingham so feel free to ask me more questions if you'd like |
I 100% agree w/ sarahjhol. The Conference Center is not in an area of B&B's/guest houses. You can get the Travelodge (don't know about the Novotel) for not much more than a B&B. And you'd really have to go a lot farther to find nice B&Bs

Thanks so much for the Novotel suggestion. I was able to secure a fantastic internet rate for the 4 nights we will be staying in Birmingham. Then off to Scotland for a week, must be in Glasgow for the last 3 days as my husband has business there but any suggestions of places to see or stay in Scotland would be great. We will have a car so getting about will not be an issue.
