Birkenstocks or tevas?
I am going on a holiday which will require a lot of walking. I am wondering which will be more comfortable.

"walking" or "hiking"? If you are just walking, then Birks would probably be better, assuming you have broken them in... But Tevas are waterproof...

My wife can only wear Birkenstocks, and that is what she did during our 7 weeks in Europe. I lost my heavy shoes in a hotel early in the trip, so I basically wore my Tevas for 7 weeks--with socks when going to a two-star restaurant. I find Tevas more comfortable than Birkenstocks because the soles have more give.
|
I find Tevas get (and stay) pretty sweaty. Birkenstocks with a leather sole are sometimes better in that department.

Everybody's feet are different. I'd wear neither Tevas or Birks for lots of walking and invest in a pair of Merrill's or Josef Seibels.
Decide what is right for you (wear them a lot and discover what's comfy for 12-15 hours/day) and wear that pair. Happy travels. Jules |
