I have heard from several people that there is a birkenstock factory outlet in munich but no-one seems to know the location. Is there anyone out there who has been to it and can give me a location. I have done a search on google with no luck.

I live in Munich and I've never heard of such a thing. I do know of a great shoe store just south of the Hugendubel Bookstore in Marienplatz. We send all of our friends who visit us here.

As you leave Marienplatz to the south (at the SE corner), it will be on your right. Under the covered walkway, you'll see a sign perpendicular to store with BIRKENSTOCK emblazened on it. Sorry, I forget the name of the street.
Back in the old days, when the dollar was actually worth something, it was a super deal. But even today, it's still cheaper than buying in the US, bc last time I bought them at this store, they cost about 50 EURO.

thank you for your help. I had never heard of birkenstock shoes until i travelled europe in 2002 and several different people on our tour had bought up big for their families back in the US. Now that I have heard from someone living in Munich that the factory outlet isnt there i will give up looking. perhaps they got confused with another town in Germany.
