Bingen KD boat to train station logistics

We are planning a quick trip through the Rhine area. On our way in from Amsterdam, we are stopping only to see Burg Eltz, then back on the train continuing on to St. Goar where we are staying that night and the next. My question is for this second day, when we plan to see Rheinfels Castle in St. Goar, Marksburg Castle in Braubach, and take a boat ride.

We plan to see St. Goar right away in the morning when it opens at 9am. Then, we plan to take the ferry across the river from St. Goar to St. Goarshausen and catch the 12:08 train which gets to Braubach at 12:29. After seeing Marksburg, we are hoping to catch the 2:30pm train to Bingen, and from there do a KD boat cruise back St. Goar or maybe even Boppard if we are still liking the boat. My question is in regard to getting from the KD boat dock to the train station in Bingen. The train gets into Bingen at 3:50pm, and the boat leaves Bingen at 4:30PM. I'm wondering if this connection is reasonable. Does anyone know if the train station near the boat dock? If not, maybe their are taxi's available? I found a map on www.bingen.de, but I don't see the train station on it, which has me worried that it some distance from the boat dock. I'd appreciate any help! I also appreciated the tip I received on this website from Russ in regard to taking the ferry across the river. Taking the ferry gives you more options for possible train connections.

There are two stations in Bingen: Bingen-Stadt and Bingen Hbf. Stadt is just a few steps from the boat docks and only a few more from oldtown Bingen. Hbf. is no more than 10 minutes' walk downstream from the docks. Chances are your train leaves from Hbf. Just keep right as you get off the boat and pass the Big Best Western Hotel on the river (Hmmm.. has it changed names? It's the only gigantic building.) and make your way up to the street level near the hotel, cross the bridge over the Nahe river where it meets the Rhine, then continue on the sidewalk til you see the station on your right.

Bingen to St. Goar is a long boat ride in my book.

The station in St. Goarshausen, by the way, is maybe 10 minutes from the docks in an upstream direction along the main drag. A strange little station. They don't let you onto the platforms from the waiting room until the train is almost there (lots of thru-trains - I guess they fear an accident since there is no underground tunnel to all the tracks.)

Enjoy yourselves.
