biking outside of Florence

We are spending 3 nights in Florence. Since one day ( Monday ) many of the museums are closed we thought we would do a bike tour in the country. Any recommendations?

Great idea! a one-day bike tour is a great way to get to see the green hills that are indeed very close to Florence. There are a few companies that offer reasonably priced tours including minivan pickup, bike and helmet rental, guide and lunch. One really nice one goes out at Settignano. I am not allowed to name names because I work for the Region of Tuscany, but you'll find that one right away if you google "florence bike tour settignano" ;-) !

Thanks so much. I will check it out. I have heard of ibikeitaly tours. Do you have an opinion on them?

I actually did this a couple of years ago, but I used the following:
http://www.persbikerides.com/

I can't access the site from where I am at, but I'm pretty sure that is it. He and his wife were fantastic. They stayed in contact with me after I made my booking, and were willing to adjust if the weather wasn't good. The price was great (I think I paid 50 Euro) and we biked all day from just outside Florence. We stopped for lunch at a winery and olive oil producer. We did tastings, and if we wanted to buy things, they had a van to take our purchases back to Florence. That was one of my favorite days on my previous trip. I highly recommend contacting Per if you are looking for a fantastic tour. It was also much smaller than the other groups - we had 7 of us on the trip, which made it all the more fun!
