biking in provence
We are going to be in provence on June 17th for 3 weeks. We are looking to rent or buy used bikes so we can travel around on day trips during our stay. Does anyone have any recommendations on places to rent or buy bikes. Thanks very much...

You didn't say which part of Provence you'll be in... This is where I rent bikes for my guests in St. Rémy:
Karim Moto 29, avenue Fauconnet Tel: 04 90 92 54 00 He also has helmets and locks. If you really want to purchase a bike, the large "hypermarchés" like Carrefour, Géant Casino, Leclerc, etc. have them, as well as sporting good stores like Decathlon and Go Sport. Patricia |
Decathlon and Go Sport would be a good place to buy new bikes. I can say 100% you shouldn't buy a bike at Carrefour, Géant Casino, Leclerc, etc. for two reasons. First, the quality of the bikes are very poor, and second you won't be getting help when the bike doesn't work.
I know a bunch of people who buy these 89 € bikes and hope that this is a bargain. They're not!!!!! Probably the best would rent a good bike and enjoy yourself. If it doesn't work, they're either fix the bike or give you one which does work. Buy some bike shorts (both masculine and feminine)plus some good bike shirts at Decathlon. Their price for the shorts, etc. is very comparative in prices. Enjoy your ride. Blackduff |
In Decathlon there are books which show bike routes in most areas. Have a look when you're there and you might find some help. I'm sure it's going to be in French but most of it can be figured.
