Biking Around The Arc de Triomphe Video
So, here's some footage of me riding my bike one handed around the Arc de Triomphe. Camera in one hand, other hand on the handlebars. Risking my life for your entertainment. Hope you enjoy. And turn down your sound to avoid hearing the nasty wind screech in my mic. Click on the link below to enjoy my stupidity.

Eek! Sooner you than me (though I have been round place de la Concorde)
For a safer view of the Arc de Triomphe traffic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZohVuQZZ0ws |
Neat. I was expecting to hear a clunk followed by a close-up of a Renault hood :)
Do you take requests? |
Patrick - It's not as bad as you might think. It does require some nerve though.
Michel - Certainly I take requests. What other feat of stupidity would you like me to perform for you. |
OMG. Please pass the dramamine.
|
Love it.
There are some great small HD video cameras you can strap to your head or anything else. See http://www.goprocamera.com/ I saw the product at a ski shop recently in Colorado. It is amazing. At least you could keep two hands on the handle bars. ;-) DaveMM |
Just call me Queasy Rider.
|
Nikki - Isn't that for seasickness? Do they make a kind to cure my road lunacy?
DaveMM - I've thought about that but then where would the thrill of watching a potential train wreck go for all the viewers? Coquelicot - Good one. |
Seasick, carsick, watching the bicycle weave among the traffic, it's all the same pill.
"Do they make a kind to cure my road lunacy?" When they come up with a pill for common sense, they'll make a fortune. |
Nikki - I think there are a lot of government officials and corporate entities all over this planet that would prevent the introduction of the common sense pill.

There are quite a few cyclists in London that wear them, in case they ever need evidence of being cut up by cars and lorries. And there's at least one police service that uses them to record interactions with the public (and to provide post facto reminders to people about how they behaved when drunk or in a rage: apparently very useful when shown to the parents of misbehaving teenagers). |
Patrick - I have been thinking about this option but haven't done any pricing on these devices yet. I like biking and making videos and it definitely increases the ease of making this type of video, not to mention the enhanced safety of having 2 hands on the handlebars.

The link doesn't seem to be working anymore, FMT.
|
Sorry sap,
The link was changed so below is the updated link. Hope you enjoy. http://anyportinastorm.proboards.com...7&page=1#82230 |
Cool. FMT's wild ride.
Hope you had a nice steadying glass of wine after that one. The head camera seems like an excellent idea. You could really (literally) be our "man on the street" with that! |
I thought Parisians rode their bikes with a baguette in one hand and a Gitanes in their mouth :)
|
Very cool.
|
sap - Seriously thinking about the head cam.
Michel - My baguette hand was busy with the camera. amelie - Thanks. |
Ok, but if I want that kind of excitement, I just get on the freeways here in LA. In any case, how are you gonna meet some mayor while you're riding your bike around the Arc. Nope. I preferred your quieter themes at the villages outside Paris. And I bet your wife didn't accompany you on this adventure either (smart woman that she is).

I couldn't help to notice the liquid on the lens. Is it rain, sweat, or maybe tears? Well, due the situation, the last two are understandable.
