Bike Tour Question

We were considering the night bike tour of Paris, but we have not been on bikes since we were young. We are now in our 50s.

Does anyone who has been on this tour have any idea on this? Is it something that would be OK for us, or too much?

As far as our activity level, we are able to walk long distances with no problem, but questioning about being on a bike after so long not on one.

We did the Segway tour from Fat Tire. You might check out that option if you doubt the bikes are right for you.

We had lunch at the same café as the bike group. The ages and athletic ability was varied. I'd tell you to go borrow the neighbor kid's bicycle and see how you do. I bet you will love it!

You will be fine.

If you're in good health you should be fine. Segways are an option, but those tours aren't as extensive as the bicycle tours (and both types of tours are best experienced for their own sake, rather than as a substitute for walking tours).

I did this tour last summer, not having been on a bicycle for around 20 years. I was a bit wobbly to start with, but soon got in the swing of it. I found that the actual cycling was not a problem, it was the pushing off that was wobbly! I stayed very much at the back of the group, because I had more space there, and yes, I was a bit slower than some of the young Australians doing wheelies!

The tour was great fun, the highlight of the Paris trip! Do go on it, but it might be a good idea to get in a little practise first if you can.

Have a great trip!
