Bike Ride from Brugge to Damme

Any tips for our bike ride from Brugge to Damme? My husband, daughter (9 yrs) and I will be renting bikes in August and plan on pedaling to Damme. Anything worthwhile seeing in Damme or should we just enjoy the ride there? Any inexpensive lunch spots?

Also, do the bike rental places have helmets for rent? (for my daughter)

Hi pommefrites-

I asked a similar question a few weeks ago, here's the link to my thread:

I don't believe they rent helmets (I couldn't seem to get a definitive answer on my thread).

Thanks for your reply. Your thread from a few weeks ago have provided me with loads of information.

I hope someone can answer the helmet question. I may just email a few places and ask. I'll post the reponse.

I rode that 35 years ago. As I recall, it was a pleasant ride. However (at least at that time) the bike paths can be made of brick and not too smooth to ride on, and the wind can be considerable.

Damme is really nice. You'll enjoy walking around it, but it shouldn't take you more then one hour. To eat, try the Siphon, it's an institution and typical Belgian cuisine. unfortunately only in Dutch:
