Bike rental Provence
This summer, we are going to stay for one week in Menerbes, in the Luberon area.
As we don't have a car we wanted to rent bicycles to be able to visit places around. We found some hybrid bikes at www.luberon-biking.fr, anyone tried these bikes yet? Is it possible to climb nearby Mt Ventoux with these bikes? How about this rental shop? Are there better places to rent? I am also looking for information about the best daytrips around Bonnieux. |
Have a look at these threads from another forum and I think you'll find the answers to your questions:

I don't think you will want to ride to Bedoin (start of Mt Ventoux climb) do the climb, descend to Malaucene, and then back to Menerbes.
There are 3 bike shops in Bedoin. According to my cousin, who is an avid biker, this places is excellent for renting bikes http://larouteduventoux.com/ This site is somehow associated with Larouteduventoux but does some "organizing". http://www.francebikerentals.com/Hom...6/Default.aspx Somewhere in one of these sites, they say that they will deliver a bike to you at your hotel/gite. You can make a loop : Malaucène > warm up > col de la Madeleine 7 miles to Bedoin > top of Ventoux > down to Malaucène.
The bike shop in Malaucène rents Carbon bikes, pinarello & scott ( Ventoux Bikes shop ) http://www.ventoux-bikes.fr/hire-roa...p-ventoux.html |
You can rent a wide variety of bikes all the way up to a barbon fiber Specialized, Trek, Colagno or Pinarello in just about any area of Provence.
MY husband rented a very good Trek Carbon in Vaison la Romaine after his Look Carbon was stolen in June. He rode from Vaison la Romaine to climb Ventoux on the route shakayan suggests. The rates were pretty good, I think my DH paid about 33€ a day. |
That's Carbon fiber :)
