bicycle rentals
Has anyone done bicycle rentals? Pro's and con's?
|
Lori - - there is something important about this website you don't understand. You undoubtedly clicked on a certain country, thinking that would be evident to all the rest of us. It isn't. If we searched for "bicycle" and specified the country you clicked, we would get your message, but otherwise, no one knows the country you're planning to visit - - and your question looks a little bit stupid.

So please come back and specify.

And to certain fans and detractors of mine - - I think you know what kind of answer I might have given in a different time. Improvement? or not?

Best wishes,

Rex
We rented bicycles and used them to explore around the Brenta Canal, and enjoyed the experience. Depending upon from whom you rent (and how much you pay), you might have clunkers or top of the line speedsters. Be sure you verify equipment - good chains and locks? saddlebags and/or baskets? style of seat? Don't leave anything to chance! It's not such a problem if you're renting for day trips (a couple of hours), but could be a real bummer (so to speak) if you're doing a bike tour.

Elvira, where is the Brenta Canal? I see that you think that the question does make sense, even in a generic sense - - about no location, in particular?

In that context, there was a good article on "Biking in Paris" in the Sunday travel section of www.nytimes.com - - expires this weekend (Friday night? Saturday day? No one knows for sure). Included lists of bike rental companies for Paris, also.
The Spring House Hotel in Rome rents bicycles for guests at a very reasonable rate. The Hotel Malahiki in Maui does too, but the bikes weren't great.

Hope this helps.

They rent bikes in French Lick, Indiana.

And here's an answer from yesterday from "informative regular", Elvira.

Oh, and look, one from Rex too.
Rex, in my book, your most recent responses are a terrific improvement because they are not intimidating to the posters. Thanks, at least as far as I am concerned.

Well, I am seeking Fodors answership nirvana, you know. But beware, my impishness is building up, seeking crevices through the earth's crust...

I was dying to write a "Juliette Binoche" answer to the question about most memorable view.

But then Hugh Grant came along and wrote that anguished answer about his beloved Elizabeth...

wink...
