hi, is BHV departement store (hotel de ville) the right place to go if i want to buy houseware. is it worth the visit?

Yes it is. You can get almost anything there. I am not familiar with the particular one you mention - I used to frequent the one in Parly II near Versailles.

It's a good one but not the only place. Galeries Lafayette, Printemps, La Samaritaine are all department stores that have good houseware depts. There are also kitchen shops like A. Simon, La Bovida and Dehillerin. E-mail me for more information. [email protected]

BHV is household item nirvana. Be sure to go to the basement!

...and if you hit BHV at the right time, they might be having a big sale. once they had a sale going plus all these announcements--as far as I could tell it was the French version of the Blue Light special.
