beynac (where to stay)

Want to stay for three nights in May somewhere in Dordogne. Beynac sounds great but only the hotel Bonnet sounds acceptable and the last post was for someone who stayed 5 years ago. Anybody out there have any more recent ideas or opinions.

I looked at that hotel's site last week, it looks charming, a deck facing the water.

We stayed at a small hotel in Beynac last May; it was the hotel Pontet. Nothing really remarkable about it except that it was reasonable, clean and quiet and halfway through town, away from the busy road. What impressed us the most was the friendliness and trust of the owner, who ran the business next to the hotel Maleville (where we looked at a room and decided against it). He gave us a key, took our names and told us to just pay in the morning; he didn't even bother taking a credit card number. Since this was quite separate from the rooms themselves where he couldn't see if we left or not, we found this extraordinary. We loved Beynac and would definitely spend more time in that region the next time.
