Beverage heater - 220volt?
 

Is there any difference in heating performance between a dual-voltage beverage heater vs. a 220-v heater? I read this somewhere and found one for Europe use if you think the 220-v appliance would heat more consistently. (I'm talking about those immersion coils to heat cups of water for tea, coffee, etc).

...any opinions...?

A dual-voltage device will work just as well.

If you have to change the voltage with a switch, do that before you leave home.

The voltage does't matter for heating. It is the wattage that gets the heating done. Does not matter if it is 120 or 240 volts. What will happen is that it will heat twice as fast on 240 volts than 120 volts. Careful when finished heating, most do not have off and on switches, so make sure to unplug after heating the drink.

My 220 heater/coil has a European plug. I would think a dual voltage would have an American plug and you would need an plug adaptor.

OK, "twice as fast" is good, since there are two of us! I don't need one to use in the US, but think I would like one for Europe. Was just wondering if there was any advantage, and I see two: faster and frees up an adaptor plug ;)
