Bevagna or Montefalco?

I'm wondering if Umbria travelers think there's a big difference between these two towns. My sister and I are taking our 88-year-old mother to Umbria next spring, and I chose Bevagna as a base because many articles and blogs call it "charming" and it's flat! We love the ability to park near our B&B and easily walk around from there in the evenings, assuming our mom will be pretty spent after visiting hill towns all day. However, another sister is visiting Montefalco and urges us to stay there instead because it's "cuter." Both towns seem to be small and sleepy but offer nice restaurants, shops, and a bit of historical interest. What do you think?

Montefalco is incredibly steep. I would not take an 88 year old there to make it a base, and might even think twice about a day trip there unless I was certain there was a way to drop off the 88 year old at the top of town.

I'm chiming in with a vote for Bevagna. You can always do a day trip to Montefalco, if you choose. Bevagna is charming with a perfect place for an evening stroll. Easy to drive out of for other day trips in the area.

Bevagna would be the best choice by far. You could drive over to Montefalco for lunch if she is up to to a climb up and down one day. Bevagna is charming too. After spending two weeks in Umbria, in Spello, I recommended Bevagna to friend who is handicapped as he wants to visit Umbria.
