Between 2 London Hotels

Help me pick between two London hotels:
DoubleTree London Victoria
Or
Crowne Plaza London Dockands

Does the better location outweigh the burden of the higher price ?

I don't know either hotel but going on location only and choosing only between those two, I'd say the DoubleTree at Victoria. No contest. Are these really your only choices?

Docklands is just too far out of the way in my opinion.

Why/how would one choose two hotels so far apart seems weird. Must be on points.

The Crowne Plaza is VERY far east out near the ExCeL centre -- so it would be fine IF you were visiting at a trade show or sporting event.

But otherwise (I assume you are in London as a tourist - right?) There is NO contest - The double Tree is practically IN Victoria station. Could hardly be more central.

Though it would help if you gave us your reasons for selecting these two properties.

Does the better location outweigh the burden of the higher price ?

Since we don't know how much each are charging . . . :?

Plus there are likely MANY other centrally located hotels charging the same as either one.

But in general - unless the Crowne Plaza was almost free I wouldn't stay there - IF this is a sightseeing trip.

Definitely NOT the one in the docklands! It is far from sites and out by a conference centre...no atmosphere at all!

I generally enjoy Crowne Plaza properties, but echoing other posters - unless you have some business out in the Docklands, go for the DoubleTree Victoria. Are these the only available options?

I'm trying to impress upon my S/O the convenience and importance of staying centrally as a tourist. Just by looking at a map, the docklands doesnt seem like it's too out of the way, so I'm glad those of you who know the area corrected me.

Oh - now I recognize you :)

How did you transition first from Acton/Brent Cross to the (very) basic/cheap Tune to these much more upscale properties?

Before we send you off on all sorts of wild goose chases -- WHAT is your actual budget per night?

dominiquejade Jan 30th, 2016 07:27 AM

i'd like to be no higher than $135.00 per night

janisj Jan 30th, 2016 07:36 AM

Is that for one or two (I don't think you mentioned your SO on the other thread)

That is about £95 -- Try this place - it is VERY popular and does book up but it is an excellent location.
