Bestfares.com specials to Europe

Bestfares.com is advertising a $333 RT special from my hometown of San Francisco to Rome through 4/30/03. I believe you have to be a member. Can anyone tell me if this fare is worth it including membership fees? What about the airlines and departure times-do you get varied choices to select from? Thanks.

Cally, <BR>I don't know about Bestfares.com and will be interested to see what people have to say, but Northwest is having a sale now too--$320 RT Seattle-Amsterdam. Not as good as the one you came up with, but I know Northwest is a major airline and you don't have to join anything to get the fare. Check it out from S.F.

I am a member and have bought a lot of tickets with them. you have to add the Tax to that total which can run around a $80.00 depending where you are going. I booked a fare to Madrid in two weeks that ended up being $378.00 round trip with tax. Still not bad1

You rarely get any choice of airline or departure times.

bestfares.com is a con game. There is a very, very strong possibility that you could do same or better without having to pay a membership fee, do some homework. Talking entirely from experience.

I traveled every April to Madrid from the Midwest US. The highest I've ever paid is $380. No bestfares.com or travelocity, just focus and good websurfing. Bestfares.com is for the inexperienced.

bestfares.com is not a con game. They consolidate offers from a variety of sources so you don't have to play the &quot;chase the low fares on the internet&quot; game. And you pay a fee for this service. It's ludicrous to call it a con game. Last year we spent literally hundreds of hours on the internet and 800#s chasing great airfare deals--they were always sold out by the time we found something--either that or they had special conditions we couldn't meet. With bestfares, you have dozens of offers in one place--the best ones still sell out quickly, but you don't have to spend hours chasing all over the internet. The fee is refundable if you don't buy tickets within 30 days--so you have nothing to lose. I guess if you have nothing else to do with your time other than spend hours a day on the www chasing fares, then the fee for bestfares would not be worth it. For us it was great. We decided to try it and within one hour had tickets in June from BWI to FRA for $441 on US air. Weekend flights would have been 491. Even adding $25 each for the cost of the membership, this was a good deal. The magazine that comes as part of your membership also has some good tips--we ended up with a free cell phone to use in Europe based on an item we saw in the magazine. It is not a scam or con game, it provides a service that you pay for. You have to decide if it's worth it for your situation.
