The posting listed above on eurotrip.com has a very interesting report on bestfares - - that they will refund your $60 fee if you do not book any travel in your first thirty days as a member.

So, it's darn near zero risk to join, if you think they have a fare that would be good for you.

Best wishes,

Rex
better read the fine line. If you are offered a trip on the route you are looking and YOU don't take the offer, it may be used against the 30-day tally. Bestfares is a con game, with a few good sales thrown in once in a while for good measure.

You're very welcome, Johanna.

If the information offered by Sean id based on a bad experience, then it is useful.

Otherwise, I am inclined to believe that the "generally" favorable view of bestfares shared by don and others on eurotrip.com would make it a gamble I would be willing to take.

It all boils down to what fares do they appear to be offering, and what is the cost of checking them out versus going whith the next cheaper option.

Here's a question for those with actual experience: If I am looking to buy seats for my family of five (or more, if daughters' boyfriends or others come along), can I purchase those with one single $60 membership?
Hi Rex

I asked the agent at bestfares the same question, and she said that one member could buy up to nine tickets at a time.

Johanna

Just a reminder:

Today is [the] last day, ...[for] an assortment of low-priced fares offered on bestfares.com

They fall generally into three categories:

Very, VERY low fares for travel during the period December 23-January 3.

Very good fares for travel extending just a little later, through January 8

And a few fares that are still pretty good as late as March 31 or even April 30 - - for example, Boston to Amsterdam for as low as $1190 (taxes extra? probably).

I hope this is information you can use.

from http://groups.yahoo.com/group/travelcheap2000/message/233
That is a terrible deal. If you go to the BA website you can do Birmingham to Rome RTN in March for about £140. You be best off booking direct rather than through an interweb company.

I think that the posting on eurotrip.com is talking about Birmingham ALABAMA to Rome. Not Birmingham ENGLAND.

These fares listed the last day to purchase as December 5 - - but that was last week -- and now, the same fares are available with a last date to purchase of December 13!

And just in case you think this is only about travel during the week around Chritmas and New Years, check out a fare that is similarly uncommon of $1190, Boston to Amsterdam in Business Class - - good until March 31!
Again, bestfares.com is a con game, don't waste your money, just learn how to use the Internet.

I think that for some of these bargain fares, you can find them directly fom the airline (if you can identify which airline it is).

Is that true for the BOS-AMS $1190 business class fare? Or is it unique to Bestfares?
