Best Western Tigra in Vienna

Has anyone stayed here? Any thoughts? Thanks!

The Tigra is on a one way street very close to the center of the city. Major city transportation is nearby. So for location it is perfect for a tourist. It is located between Am Hof and Freyung, two busy squares with numerous restaurants near by.The hotel is not large and in most casaes this is a plus.

While, I have not stayed there and can not comment on the inside, all Best Westerns that I know of in Austia have good standards.

Thanks! We are only there for 2 nights, so I think this will be best to take advantage. My other options are TOP Hotel PAPAGENO and Trend Hotel beim Theresianum. Any thoughts?

While molker's comments re:convenience are very valid, I always found the particular street that the Tigra on one of the most depressing streets in the centre of Vienna - very dead feel to it, with old offices around and few stores. Having said that, the Tigra bar was pretty busy at times. It is also located next to another hotel which is well known for 1 hour bookings. I do not share his view of Best Westerns in Austria - my personal view is that Vienna's Best Westerns are all pretty dated
(albeit clean) -OK if you like the pink roses on the wallpaper look that is a feature of one of them. I heard good reviews of Papageno as a decent value place.

Travelnick refers to one of the very famous hotels of Vienna frequented by the " Rich and Famous" The Orient Hotel has been featured in numerous travelogues and books. Yes, a deserved reputation as a place for short stays but for prominent visitors causing no problems and just visited by many to seeit and the good decoration.

I do not know how a writer classifies this street depressing, perhaps because Mozart once lived there.Of course you do not sleep in the street.

For two nights, try it- best location of those mentioned.

"For two nights, try it- best location of those mentioned."

Molker, are you still referring to the Best Western or the Orient?

my comment was to the Tigra, but the Orient for two nights could be very interesting!
A different type of sightseeing!

Personally enjoyed my stay that the Tigra - very convenient location - 5 mins walk to the central pedestrian area and Stephansdom/Hofburg etc. Hotel very pleasant and clean, if unspectacular, but very pleasant and clean, plus a good location is all I want from a hotel when I'm on holiday! Would go back.

I stayed at a Best Western in Vienna called Hotelpension Arenberg. It is a nice 4-star within the Ring and about a 5-minute walk to Stephensplatz. It is small and has a nice breakfast. It has that posh Vienna feel and the rooms are comfortable.
