BEST WESTERN LEFT BANK SAINT-GERMAIN HOTEL
 

We're considering staying here. Can anyone please give any good/bad comments about this hotel? Thanks.

We stayed there 3 years ago and liked both the hotel and the location.<BR><BR>Our daughter stayed there last month and while she found the hotel fine, for about 200Euros (I'm not exactly sure-look up recent trip report) per night she didn't think it was great value.<BR><BR>She found their room quite small and when they noticed another room on the same floor that was quite a bit larger she asked to be moved.<BR><BR>Without packing their belongings the hotel moved everything (told them in advance) they had to a new room and it was as if they had always been in the new room when they returned in the evening.<BR><BR>They had a shampoo in the shower that was placed in the same location and something on the end table that was also placed in the same location on the same end table. I think that's great service.<BR>

Thanks for the reply. I think it is too expensive and I hope we get a large room since it's a triple. They are charging 228 Euro.<BR><BR>Was the breakfast allright? They won't answer my email about what it's like.

Cute breakfast room. Breakfast was fine. They did, however, charge extra for orange juice.

I stayed there for two weeks once and the two of us shared one of their largest rooms. Actually we were in a very dark one at first on the first floor, but after two days they moved us up to a brighter one -- but just like it. Those large rooms are all triples (two twins pushed together) plus a separate day bed, which gives you more room, and serves as a sofa if there are only two of you. To my knowledge all those triple rooms are on the back side of the hotel, so there is no view, they open to a sort of "courtyard" more like an airshaft, so they are somewhat dark. My biggest complaint was that we couldn't control the airconditioning and we nearly froze to death in July. It is a nice hotel, but only did breakfast once there --too pricey for what it was, and I'd rather go to one of several places within the block for fresh pastries, juice, and coffee anyway.

What you are paying for at the Best Western is a recognizable AMERICAN name. For this price, you could stay, for example, in the St. Michel on rue Cujas, which is REALLY nice. But across the street from there is the Cujas Pantheon for EUR 110 for a triple, perfectly acceptable, great location. These are both small hotels, so you will have better service. I stayed at the St. Michel last year and could not have been happier. Extra charge for jus d'orange is outrageous.

I think some rooms are larger than others in the same category. She didn't pay any more for the larger room.<BR><BR>We had breakfast included. While some people prefer variety and like to eat out of the hotel, I don't feel that way about breakfast. <BR><BR>I don't want hassles before we start the day and breakfast is before we start the day.<BR><BR>

Jesse:<BR>Stayed there in 1999. Very lovely place. Service was terrific. The first morning after we arrived, we overslept and missed breakfast. A call to the desk to make sure of the timeof breakfst hours, and a few minutes later, as we prepared to leave to find a place to eat, a knock on the door to find a lovely tray set with croissants, juices, pastry and a pot of coffee and a pot of tea. Very nice! Enjoy!
