Best Western Hotels in Madrid and Barcelona

I am considering using points to stay in Best Western Hotels in Madrid and Barcelona. I am trying to figure out which ones are in the most convenient locations. We plan to visit the typical tourist sites and want to have easy access to restaurants/tapas.

In Madrid I saw one hotel on the Plaza de Santo Domingo and another on the Gran Via, but there were several more. In Barcelona there is one on Calle Mallorca another on Castillejos, also others. Has anyone stayed in a Best Western in these cities? Thanks in advance.

I stayed just one night at the Best Western Carlo V in Madrid last June. It's in a convenient location and reasonably priced but nothing fancy. I'd stay there again.

My suggestion would be to put in your dates at the Carlos V and see what it would actually cost you.Depending on the rate you get, would you do better for that price at another 3 star hotel in Madrid?
I don't like the location of the one on Plaza Santo domingo and had friends move out after one night stay.I stayed at the Carlos V years ago and it was okay then but I understand it's looking a little shabby nowadays. The location is always very busy/noisy.

jerseysusan,

When are you going to Madrid? Chapla coul be right about the noise. I didn't have a problem with street noise when I was there in June but I had the air conditioner on so it would have muffled any noise.

Chapla - I am just starting my research for this trip. Please let me know why you don't like the location of the hotel on Plaza Santo Domingo. Thanks.

Tired looking hotel-supposed to be undergoing renewal.Across from a huge undergroundparking lot! You will always be going up/right out of the hotel to get to the interesting areas of Madrid. The area is ???
Should not be a 3/4 star hotel

Why don't you rent a flat instead? Gives you more freedom an it's a lot cheaper. I rent a huge apartment for 1 week from Barcelona-home every year. it's right in the center and I pay something like 600€ for 1 week, and there's 4 of us.
