Best website for European rentals?

Hi! I'm planning a trip to Italy (Rome and possibly Venice) for the summer, and I'm trying to remember which rental website I've looked at before. I swore it was Volare.com, but that site is nonexistent. Does anyone know what I'm thinking of, or can someone recommend a good website for European rentals? (Websites for all of Europe are fine...hopefully I'll be going back again in years to come!)

What is it that you are wanting to rent?

We're traveling with friends and were thinking of splitting a two-bedroom. Although, if there are any affordable hotels in Rome (they can be minimalist, as long as they're clean and offer a private bathroom) I'd be happy to hear those suggestions too...although I guess that's another thread entirely!

maybe you are thinking of www.venere.com? I don't have any experience to recommend it myself but it is often mentioned here. another website referenced here is www.slowtrav.com.

Hi K,

Are you thinking of www.vrbo.com?

Volare was an airline.

A-ha! Venere was the one I was thinking of, although I've also looked on vrbo in the past and found it easy to navigate (although I couldn't remember that URL this morning, either).

"Volare"? Must have come from wrapping my grandma's Dean Martin CD...heh.
