Best website for driving directions

What is the best website for driving directions in the UK? I'm currently using MultiMap.com and it seems to be detailed. Any other suggestions?

The website www.viamichelin.com is the gold standard on my book, though www.mappy.com is also good.

The other major web site I used to mention - - www.shellgeostar.com - - has now been discontinued.

Best wishes,

Rex
[email protected]
The RAC website http://www.rac.co.uk/
has a good route planner

The AA is rather good.

http://www.theaa.co.uk.

You will also get road works information etc.

In doing a comparison of the route planning websites mentioned between Gatwick and the Cotswolds area to which we'll be going, I noticed several differences.

The viamichelin site has beautiful detailed maps, but the route planning descriptions were a bit cryptic.

The aa site gave better driving instructions (more detailed) but the maps weren't as good.

The rac.co.uk site gave wonderful detailed planning directions, but went a longer way than either of the michelin or aa sites

I know there are many different variables that can go into determining the best routes, but from what I can tell, the aa route planner was best for instructions and the michelin site was best for great detailed maps.

Obviously, different routes may produce different results but that's what I found.

Thank you-yes, I actually went to michelin and AA and printed directions to compare with the ones I had printed with MultiMap...I think AA was the one that was closest and easiest to read. I will have a detailed map with me so don't need that part of it. Thanks again for all of the help!
