Best way to visit an island or two

Jump to last reply

I'm planning a trip to Croatia in May next year, hiring a car in Zagreb, driving via Rovinj down to Dubrovnik via the usual spots (Plitvice, Krka, etc), then perhaps to the Bay of Kotor in Montenegro and back to Zagreb via Bosnia & Herzegovina. I wasn't planning to go to any of the islands, but the more I think about it, the more I think I should see one or two. Which would be the better option: (1) taking the car on a ferry from Split to Hvar, then maybe on to Korcula then Dubrovnik, staying a night on each island, or (2) would I be better off leaving the car in Split, taking a morning ferry to Hvar, spending most of the day looking around using local buses and walking, then taking a ferry back to Split late afternoon (before driving down the coast to Dubrovnik)?
