Best Way to travel from Rome to Greece

Three of us will be travelling from Rome to Greece on May 30. We want to visit Santorini and Naxos and spend either 3 or 4 nights on each island.

What is the best way to travel as far as cost and time involved ?

Thanks !!

We can return home to San Francisco either from Rome or Athens.

It would be quickest and easiest to fly.
The alternative is to take the train from Rome to Bari or Brindisi, then a ferry to Patras or Igoumenitsa and then a bus / hire car / possibly train to Athens.

Aegean Airlines flights Rome-Athens as well as Athens-Santorini. You could do it like this:

Fly Rome-Athens with A.A. (I think it's 34-39 euros WITHOUT taxes)

Few days in Athens or go to next step

Fly Athens-Santorini (46 euros all in)

Ferry Santorini-Naxos

Ferry Naxos-Piraeus (Athens)

Fly back home to SFO or spend a few days in Athens if you've opted to stay in Athens at the end of the trip

Thanks for your responses. I checked Aegean and the flight would be about Euro 99.

Im going to check the board for info on fares and time involved to ferry from santorini to naxos and later to ferry from naxos to athens.

thanks again,
susan

Apologies. I forgot AA changed their fares concerning Rome. They're supposed to be a pretty good airline. Much better than Olympic Airlines.
