Best way to travel from London to Portsmouth

My husband and I will be in London in late March. What is the cheapest way to get from London to Portsmouth and how far is it?

We've made that trip on a Southern Railway <i>DaySave</i> pass. For &pound;10 (or 4/&pound;20), an adult can go all over their network for a day. Kids are &pound;1. Note the rush-hour restrictions: http://www.southernrailway.com/main.php?page_id=189

Schedules are at http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en (but note that the DaySave is valid on Southern only).

London to Portsmouth in about 65 miles as the crow flies.
The cheapest way to get between the two is probably National Express coaches (http://www.nationalexpress.com) currently showing prices from &pound;5 each way, but the journey does take just over 2 hours. The Train is faster at around 90 minutes, but more expensive at about &pound;28

Just looked at "megabus" (http://www.megabus.com/uk/index.php) and they have trains to Portsmouth for &pound;6 one way.

That link from willit seems to somehow include the closing bracket ), it shouldn't be there, just delete it from your browser address bar
