Best way to Stratford-Upon-Avon

We need to get from Whitchurch to Stratford-Upon-Avon. The british rail people have worked it out so that we would need to change trains seven different times and take a total of four hours. Is there a better way for the seven of us to get there, or at least a better way from Binghamton. Thank You.

Sorry, I mean Birmingham.

I think you are going to have to define the problem a little more explicitly, Bruce. There are hourly trains from Birmingham Moor St. station that take 47 minutes. And it can't be more than a 5 minute walk from New Street station, where the train from Whitchurch would presumably arrive, to Moor Street.?????
You may also want to identify whether you are coming from Whitchurch in South Glamorgan or Whitchurch in Shropshire. I am assuming not Whitchurch in Hampshire, since that wouldn't involve going through Birmingham.

There is a coach service from Birmingham to Stratford-upon-avon by Stagecoach, and it will serve you to the centre of Stratford.

Okay I will try to explain a little better. The rail people set up this schedule for us (7 of us). We leave from Whitchurch (the one on the Llangollen Canal) at10:51am, arrive Shrewsbury 11:17am & depart 11:48am. Arrive at Birmingham 12:59pm & depart 1:21pm. Arrive Leamington Spa 1:53pm depart 2:15pm. Arrive Stratford-Upon-Avon 2:43pm. Is there a faster way to do this? Trouble is we have tickets at the Royal Shakespeare Theater for 1:30pm. Thanks once again, sorry I wasn't more specific last time.

First following site will let you research on your own: (it has most of the European timetable, although up to 5.29, the schedule after that should be similar)

http://bahn.hafas.de//bin/db.s98/query.exe/en

I also had difficulty locating Whitchurch. I looked at Shrewsbury to Stratford and yes, if you have to catch train out of Shrewsbury that late, you cannot get to Stratford on time. You probably have to catch one leaving Shrewsbury no later than 9:00am.

You have some leverage in Birmingham. You arrive at New str station. If you cannot walk ~3 blocks with whatever you are carrying to Moor str station, then you have to travel via Leamington Spa as you indicated and incur additional travel time. The Moor str Station to Stratford trains leave 28min past each hours and takes about 48min. It is a commuter train and Startford is the last stop. We walked between New Str and Moor Str with our daughters with carryon luggages by following the red line on the side walk.

I have been playing around on the Railtrack web site: http://www.railtrack.co.uk/travel/in...rsonalise.html.
If you want to go via Leamington Spa, avoiding the walk between train stations in Birmingham, the three morning choices are:
dep Whit @ 07:53, arr Stratford @ 11:27
dep Whit @ 10:00, arr Stratford @ 13:25 and the one you identified. If you are able to walk between the two station in Birmingham, the choices are:
dep Whit @ 08:50, arr Stratford @ 12:15
dep Whit @ 10:00, arr Stratford @ 13:15

There does not appear to be a faster way; its just a question if you are willing or able to start sooner in the morning.
