Best way to spend Sunday

With limited time in Florence, are we best off spending a Sunday in town there or going to see Pisa? Not sure what's open on Sundays in Italy, and not sure if it's worth the train ride and travel time to Pisa...

What are your recommendations?

Hi A,

The major museums in Florence will be open on Sunday.

Take the no. 7 bus from the SMN train station up to Fiesole to watch the sunset.

Unless you absolutely have to get a pic of yourself holding up the Tower, I suggest skipping Pisa.

Enjoy your visit.

Ditto what Ira said.

Pre-book your museums. And after sunset in Fiesole, head up further for dinner (Da Fiore or Ristorante Dino are my choices).

Define "limited time."

The trip to Pisa takes about an hour one way. Admittedly, despite its uniqueness the leaning tower isn't for everyone and as much as I have always enjoyed it I wouldn't swap that for some of the museums in Florence.

I would swap it for a sunset over Florence but to each their own.

What else might we do on Sunday in Florence besides the museums?

Take a meandering walk through the Oltrarno to Piazzale Michelangelo and then listen to the Gregorian chants in the early evening - I don't recall the name offhand of the monastery, but you can look it up.

That's what I did on a Sunday, among other things.
