Best way to print message?
Help. What's the easiest way to print a message so that it takes up the least space. I've done what the Fodors instructions recommend, click to the right of the post, and print. but, it takes way more pages because the margin is so narrow, and the ad on the right eats up all sorts of ink. I've tried copying it into Word and deleting, but all sorts of gymnastics seem to be involved in getting the margins and ads removed, I wasn't very successful. I'm the first to admit, I'm not very adept at printing from the computer, I'm sure there's an easy answer. Can you help? annieladd

The following works for me:
Using the mouse, highlight the text you want to print. Click File...Print...Print selection.
None of the unwanted stuff will print. This works with my setup. Your milage may vary.

I tried AJ's highlight...click file...print method but my infernal device still prints everything including all the messages and advertisements
I have to use suze's method of cut and paste, but it takes much longer.
I have to highlight, then leave Fodors,go to start, select Microsoft Office Word,go to Edit and paste, and finally print.
There must be an easier and quicker method.

<< then leave Fodors... >>
huh? Windows is all about ore than one window, you know...
<< I'm not very adept at printing from the computer... >>
The "gymnastics" to which you allude... are how you will get "adept" at re-formatting, printing and the like.
The people who you consider "adept" have probably spent more hours fiddling and twittering with documents than they would ever care to count. It's quite effortless second nature, as a result.
Best wishes,
Rex

Click on the body of the text, press the <Ctrl> and <A> keys which should highlight only the text of the message, then press the <Ctrl> and <C> keys which should copy the text before finally pressing <Ctrl> and <V> to paste it into a word document

Thanks
I used your suggestion and your simplified method worked perfectly.
I will just have to remember to open the Word document before I enter Fodor's.
AJPeabody's system should be even quicker but it won't work for me as the entire group of messages print out even though I only highlight a single message.

annieladd: I can't think how many times I've tried doing this properly!! I just tried copying your message into Word to confirm how to do it.
You don't have to bring up Word first. You can copy/paste and then bring up Word. Whichever way you do it, at the bottom of the Word page when you first "paste" it in there is a tiny box. Click on the arrow and then click on "keep text only." This will eliminate boxes, pictures, etc. Just delete anything you don't want - it's so easy.
You can highlight the whole thread (must be "in" the thread) or just highlight the particular comment you want to keep. Works perfectly.
