Best Way to Novotel in Roissy from Gare de Lyon

We are a group of 11 arriving at Gare de Lyon and staying over at the Novotel in Roissy before an early flight the next day. What is the best way to get to the hotel from the train station? We can take separate taxis or maybe a private shuttle?

RonZ Jun 24th, 2008 06:36 AM

RER B--the suburban train. The hotel is close to the station.

We will have large pieces of luggage with us. Is that permitted on the RER train? Is there a map/schedule of the RER trains?

Hello ILuvLexie :)

No problems with taking the luggage on the RER.

The Novotel is so easy to find from the station. You don't even go outside. There is an entrance directly from the station. Short, short walk, a minute or so.

We stayed there a year ago. The rooms had recently been renovated. Very nice, clean, and the bed was large (king size) and super comfortable.

Happy travels!

Hi IL,

You can get directions and schedules at www.ratp.fr

((I))

Robespierre Jun 24th, 2008 08:05 AM

In particular, the RER B schedule is at http://www.ratp.info/orienter/horair...ER&ligne=B

Enter the direction and days of service and press Rechercher.

By the way, RER B doesn't serve Gare de Lyon. You'll need to get on RER D and change at Gare du Nord.

ILuvLexie Jun 24th, 2008 08:28 AM

If RER B doesn't serve Gare de Lyon I don't think the train is the best option for us. My mother is 76 and I can't see coming in from a 2 1/2 hour train ride and then getting her on another train, changing trains, etc... So I guess that takes me back to square 1. Is there another way to get directly to the hotel other than a private van or taxi?

Only a partial answer...the Air France bus runs from Gare de Lyon to CDG2. Lots of room for luggage.

The maps on the Air France site and the Novotel site look like you may be very close once you get off the bus.

kerouac Jun 24th, 2008 09:06 AM

You can take the Air France bus from Gare de Lyon (15€ per person -- but there is a 15% discount for groups of more than 4 persons) and then take the Accor Hotels shuttle from any terminal at CDG.

I was looking at some of the shuttle services, but they seem to only have a capacity of 8 passengers (for about 85€) -- but it is not unlikely that if you call one of the services (or email them), they will offer a competitive rate for 11. I just Googled 'Paris airport shuttle' to see what came up, but there are quite a few shuttle fanatics on this site who will give you specific names very quickly.

Thank you

I will be staying at the Pullman Hotel at CDG Roissy (formerly known as Sofitel). They told me that the shuttle goes by every 20 minutes from different arrival gates in CDG2
(I don't have the info with me). I assume that this shuttle must serve all the Accor hotels. One of the reservations people told me that they thought the shuttle would say "Pullman" (the new name), but I am wondering if there is just a generic Accor shuttle? Someone told me that many taxis will not take you from the airport to one of the Roissy hotels, but I don't know if this is true or not.

imperialtopaz Jun 24th, 2008 10:13 AM

I just found the info for the shuttle: every 20 minutes from
Terminal 2 and TGV at Gates A8,
B8, C8, and D8. Also from Gates
E and F (Gallery 4 Arrival Level).

kerouac Jun 24th, 2008 10:52 AM

No, the Pullman has a different shuttle. They don't mix the 4-star people with the 1, 2 and 3-star people.

Gretchen Jun 24th, 2008 11:25 AM

Your mother and 3 of your group might like to just get in a taxi and go to the hotel. It would be about 50E, and make it an easier transfer for her. This might be the place to split up for ease.

imperialtopaz Jun 24th, 2008 11:30 AM

Thanks for the information, Kerouac.
So, do you think the shuttle will say "Pullman"?

kerouac Jun 24th, 2008 11:39 AM

Yes, it said 'Sofitel' before and I think they could afford a new paint job for the new name.

rkkwan Jun 24th, 2008 11:42 AM

But of coures, if you see a shuttle that says "Sofitel" on its side, you should at least ask, if not immediately hop on!

imperialtopaz Jun 24th, 2008 12:31 PM

Thanks for your help! The reservations person also said that I could take the CDGVAL to the ParkingR (I think) and then call
(sur demande) to be picked up. I think I will just go with the shuttle.

ILuvLexie,

For eleven people two minivan taxis from Gare de Lyon to the Novotel should be cheaper than two minivan private shuttles.
