best way to hold a reservation?
I need to travel in about a fortnight and have a lot of planning to do before I totally finalize,
Checking on the internet and also by calling the airline directly, I have found affordable tickets and good connections. But to hold the seat/reservation/price I will need to use a credit card. Thus, concerned if for some reason things dont work out then the reservation will have to be cancelled and a refund will follow on the credit card. Kind of leary doing this as I worry that maybe something goes wrong and my refund is messed up. Any alternative ideas or should I just take the chance and book the fare while it is good today. Thanks for your help. I hope I am not asking a totally stupid question. But it is always good to see if others have a better idea. Have a great day. |
You're leaving in 2 weeks but you're concerned you may not be able to go on this trip??? When will you know for sure that you can go on the trip... the day before departure?
The only way you can book a plane ticket and get FULL REFUND if you cancel, is to purchase a FULL FARE ticket; which probably translates to a couple thousand dollars for an economy seat. |
There's nothing you can do about these concerns when you buy things anywhere for any reason with a credit card, especially online. YOu just have to go with a reputable company and assume you will get a refund if you are due one in some time. Your refund could get messed up and things could go wrong, but I don't know what you can do about it.
Maybe someone could have some other comments if you would actually name the place you intend to buy tickets. |
Unless your fare class is Y it's not refundable in most cases. So one ask if it's a FULLY refundable fare. Otherwise there's no need to worry about the refund being messed up.
Now as someone who has bought and refunded fully refundable assuming you are on a reputable airline I would have no concerns. |
Thanks for your replies. I plan to use NWA, so not worried too much, but wanted to make sure there are no other alternatives.
The fare and the flights are very attractive, thus dont want to lose them while I procrastinate as I need to look into many things before making sure I can trip. Sometimes one has last minute stuff to take care of and thus this whole dilemma. Thanks again. |
I'm not too familiar with NWA, but the good fare you saw - is it fully refundable if you do cancel? Or do you have to pay a penalty fee for canceling (which can be $100 or more)? You need to check that before you book.
