i stand corrected. the only places NOW ( i have beenhere so long.. most things have been re-invented!!) ( according to some list i was able to google) that allow extra charge for luggage is barcelona, murcia and sevilla.

now i am wondering if i have been charged here in valenica on way back from vacation or not.! hmmmmm.
will keep my eyes open next time.

Thanks for the correction. i surely will be paying attention if i go by taxi anywhere with a suitcase.

If, perchance your Spain Port of Entry is Madrid (Barajas), Continental-Auto is the Bus Line that does the Madrid-Santander route (from Avda. de America Intercambiador). You can get there by Metro or Bus. Madrid-Santander is 6 hours if you stop in Burgos. The Supra service is a 5 1/2 hour trip: non-stop (except for a short stop to change drivers) to Torrelavega, then non-stop to Santander Bus Station

Earlier I said UIMP is on Avda. de los Castros. Palacio de la Magdalena is on a Bluff several hundred meters east from Avda. de los Castros. I don't think the City buses go out there, so a taxi from the Bus Station might be your best bet.

The People from la Montaña (Cantabria) tend to be very honest. They won't try to rip you off like in Barcelona or Sevilla. They speak Castellano VERY, VERY fast! Don't be disappointed if they blow past your cognitive rapidity. My (Madrileña) wife couldn't keep up when we were visiting with some friends at el Chupi (taberna on Avda de los Castros, beach block).
