A taxi, since you have luggage and don't know where you are going. You will find public transportation crowded and you will have difficulty knowing which stop is the one you want. The streets around that area are not well signed, and if you don't speak Italian, you will have trouble asking for and understanding directions. It is not fun to be wandering around in circles dragging your luggage.

I would agree. First to catch a bus you need to walk to Corso Vittoria Emanuele II (as area near the Campo is mainly pedestrian-only) and you will be travelling at commuter time with full buses if it's a weekday. And buses can stop some way from the Termini entrance (#40 or 64), and the area surrounding is bit of a mess with heavy traffic and uneven surface. There should be enough cruising taxis on the Corso or walk to the rank at Largo di Torre Argentina. Or call one by phone.

But if there is a taxi strike, you can get a [crowded] bus as Alec says. You need to leave quite early under any conditions.

For the end of your stay, you should ask your rental landlord to arrange a taxi pick up for you. Even if there is a taxi strike, taxi drivers will take care of their regular clients. (The chances of a taxi strike are very low since the taxi drivers last year won most everything they wanted, and there is no present threat to make them give any of that up.)
