best way to get to CDG from Orly

We need to get from Orly Airport in Paris to CDG airport at rush hour. Does anyone know about taking the metro for this trip? I think it would be faster than a taxi at rush hour. Will we have to deal with stairs or escalators while carrying luggage if we try the metro? Thanks for any advice!

french traveler- the best way at rush hour might be the train, not the metro but there is a regional train. i forget what it's called but actually you can get most of this info on the internet, in english, if you search under orly or CDG. there is an AF coach that makes the trip too-less than a taxi but has to take the same roads so you will deal with rush hour. i've done that before and took an hour or slightly more at rush hour.i wouldn't recommend the regular metro.

Hi. I caught an Air France bus. It was about 7am and it took about an hour and ten minutes. It was a car park all the way and not thru any nice parts of paris! You can't do the metro- I think it has to be the train. I then caught the train to CDG on the way back. I have dreadful French but I couldn't work out how to get my luggage thru the turnstiles to get on the escalator and couldn't find anyone to help so ended up throwing it over! Buying a ticket was also a challenge! It wasn't that much quicker either. Others may have a better experience to compare. I think it's 6 of one, half a dozen of the other. Just take whatever's closer.

Take the RER -- the regional train -- from Roissy-CDG to Orly - theree is a change of train when you get near to Orly -- ask to make sure which is the right line from Roissy-CDG -- I don't have the info in fronmt of me right now will will post it later if someone else doesn't. In rush hour the RER [regional train] is the way to go.

So, S. Fowler, you have taken the RER train between airports and the luggage isn't a problem? If you have a web site for information, I would appreciate it very much!
