Best way to get me from England to Belgium....?
Hello all! I have been trying to figure out the best way to get me from England to Belgium. Thoughts on this would be helpful! Thank you!

From where to where?
|
|
From the South of England and London use the eurostar train. From the north of England fly (only 1 hour flight plus 2 hours check in. Make sure you fly to Brussels International and not Charleroi Airport.
|
From anywhere west of about Chiswick, it's almost always quicker to fly to Brussels than to get the train (though the train's often better for many other Belgian destinations). From NE England, ferry Hull-Zeebrugge. From bits of East Anglia, boat Harwich-Hook of Holland then train. If you want to take your dog, or have tons of stuff you want to take with you, ferry or tunnel to Calais, then drive.
Otherwise, train. |
It depends on from where to where, your budget, and the time you want to take.
Eurostar is the obvious choice from London, but there are also Eurolines buses which will get you to Brussels for 25 GBP or less, but it takes all day to do so. You could get a ferry from Ramsgate to Oosteinde, or from Hull to Zeebrugge (which is an overnight ferry - cabin compulsory). You can fly into Brussels, Antwerp or Charleroi. |
www.seat61.com offers strategies for connecting via train to Eurostar from points outside London, then on to Brussels.
|
eurostar from London for sure - if going to Bruges you can get off at Lille, walk 5 minutes between stations and get trains to Bruges without going thru Brussels.
